Frequently Asked Questions

Please see our frequently asked questions, if you require any further information feel free to contact us.

Our community transport scheme is membership-based and provides a service for people who are unable to use or have difficulty with access to public transport.

Our aim is to help people with journeys which they may otherwise be unable to make, such as:

  • Hospital, doctors, dentist and other medical appointments, both inside and outside of the county
  • Local trips for shopping
  • Seeing a relative or friend
  • Attending community activities or a social club
  • One-off or regular trips including the library, post office, chemist or chiropodist

We offer a door to door and accompanying service with our friendly and helpful team of volunteers. Where you need to go, we get you there. We can even get you home from hospital when discharged as an inpatient and you simply ask the ward nursing staff to call us to collect you.

Any transport you book is for you alone – you will not be sharing it with any other customers, unless you request us to. If you wish to take another person with you, that is acceptable. The service is for you alone.

Our community transport scheme helps people access social activities, facilities and services. We engage with, promote and support community activities in the local area that benefit disadvantaged people and communities. This includes linking with groups such as Your Day, Your Say (a charity which supports adults with severe learning disabilities), the Royal British Legion and Royal Voluntary Service to support veterans and their families. We enable participation and support the growth of groups, events and networks, such as luncheon clubs, art and fitness classes, to support their sustainability.

Our service is based in and around Boston and the surrounding villages and rural community. In some circumstances we are able to transport people from Boston to further afield, please contact the office on 01205 360183 to see if your journey is covered.

To reduce barriers to engagement from victims of domestic violence and single parents we can offer same-sex drivers.

All of our drivers have to go through rigid police and DBS checks, and have a full driving licence and insurance to ensure your safety, so you can use this service with complete confidence. All of our drivers are based locally and are volunteers.

Customers pay 60p per mile for each journey, of which the driver keeps 45p per mile for their expenses, and 15p per mile goes to the BCT charity. The charge starts and finishes at the driver’s residence. Where possible we try to get a driver close to your home. The driver will wait for the return journey. If the waiting time exceeds an hour, there may be an additional charge for a return journey, which will be explained to you.

You can book by email or by telephoning the office on 01205 360183. A minimum of 72 hours’ notice is required to arrange a journey. However, in an emergency please call and we will do our very best to help you at any time.

We are always on the look out for general volunteers as well as drivers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Angela Gould on 01205 360183.
Yes we are open to accepting donations of time, prizes and money, that all help us to run the charity better for the local community, please get in touch through the website, you can now donate directly too.
